I am really looking forward to working as a therapist at Essential Bodyworkx, after several years in the Complimentary medicine arena as a practice manager for a local business.
I originally trained in Swedish Body Massage, from this followed Hot Stone Therapy which is such a lovely relaxing and beneficial treatment.
Being a therapist you constantly want to learn, the Acupressure Chair Massage was next in my training and is a fantastic fully clothed, oil free treatment. This 30min seated acupressure massage is performed in a special ergonomically designed comfortable chair. The massage is based on a 1500 year old form of Japanese acupressure. It is performed through clothing and works on the main stress bearing areas of the upper body and leaves you feeling refreshed, energised and revitilised. It is ideal for those that have very physical work or from carrying children and bags. Equally for those who sit for extended periods of time either at a desk or in a vehicle, an acupressure chair massage can help your body to realign your spine, relax any tension within the body and improve your posture.
My attention then went to a therapy I had been considering for several years, Bellabaci Cupping Massage, having seen celebrities with these strange circular marks on their backs, i wondered what of its benefits. The Bellabaci cupping massage therapy is a fantastic modern version of the traditional glass cups. Instead of using heat to produce the vacuum, these flexible silicone cups are gently squeezed before application to provide the pressure, eliminating the possibility of any burns and the red circles left by glass cups. As these cups are flexible the therapist can move them over areas of pain and tension and unlike traditional methods of massage, the Bellabaci cups can be used directly over bone and joints. Bellabaci combines the techniques of Swedish and Deep Tissue massage to relieve pain and detoxify the body.
